About byleigh
Hi, I’m LeighAnn.
I've been involved in the disability sector since I was 16, starting as a volunteer before moving into paid work at 18.
Over the years, I've provided hands-on support to people of different ages and abilities, led teams of all sizes, been part of the NDIS rollout and helped many people navigate and access the scheme.
These experiences have given me an understanding of disability support from different perspectives, but they've also shaped what I believe good support should look like.
For me, it's about respect in everything we do. It's about empowering people, being creative, thinking on your feet and showing empathy. It's not just about what we do for someone, but how we do it.
Why I started byleigh
I've seen how amazing independent support can be when it's done well. It can give people more choice, flexibility and the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the people supporting them.
But I've also seen how challenging it can be when support workers don't have the right knowledge, skills or guidance behind them.
I wanted to do something about that.
Rather than starting another support service, I created byleigh to share what I've learnt and help people become confident, trusted independent support workers.
Because ultimately, it's about the people receiving support. They deserve support workers who respect them, empower them and genuinely make a positive difference in their lives.
